2. No software needed (unlike Google Earth) - this is browser-based.
3. Less bandwidth heavy than Google Earth.
4. Google Maps CAN be opened in Google Earth.
5. Google Earth KMZ filed can be imported and opened in Google Maps
1. go to http://maps.google.com
2. log in with your Google account
3. click on "My Maps"
4. Click on "Create new map"
5. Type a title and description for your map... maybe favorite places
6. Click "save"
7. Now you can add a placemarker
The yellow arrow (above) is pointing to the tool you use to move the map to see different portions of the map.
The purple arrow (above) is pointing to the tool you use to create placemarkers.
The pink arrow (above) is pointing to the tool you use to create lines and shapes on your map.
How to make your placemarkers look different:
1. Place the placemarker where you want it (you can move it later if you wish)
2. Click on the placemarker to reveal this menu:
3. Enter a name for your placemarker.
4. Enter the description for your placemarker.
We will look at the HTML and Rich Text choices later.
5. Click on the placemarker icon and select a different color or a different built-in icon.
To add images or formatted text to your place markers:
1. Follow steps above 1-4
2. Choose Rich Text
You will see this menu:
From this menu you can format your text and also provide links and add images. (NOTE: You must have a URL for your image to use it here.)
